When Cathy moved to the Panhandle of Florida it was only natural that she would answer an employment ad placed by American Pioneer Title Insurance Company for a “courier with court house research experience”. Cathy had no prior Real Estate experience, and felt there was little reward in being a courier, but to her delight there was plenty of history to discover.
Cathy worked for American Pioneer Title Insurance Company for 2 years, working her way up the ladder by going from Courier to Junior Examiner holding every position in between to develop a strong foundation for becoming a Title Examiner. Learning such skills as, compilation of 30 year chain of title, interpretation, and application of the Florida RESPA rules, as it applies to Real Estate transactions, learning the skill of drawing metes & bound legal descriptions, examination of surveys and working closely with many local Title Insurance Closing Companies as well as many local Attorneys to insure their transactions were in compliance.
In August of 1997, Cathy was recruited by First American Title Insurance Company for a position as Examiner, she continued her education in the Title Insurance Industry by taking the American Land Title Association class I & II, as well as passing the examination for the Florida Licensed Title Insurance Agent. While at First American Title, Cathy worked with Closers, Attorneys, Developers and Builders on large land developments, she worked to correct any and all title defects to successfully position the customer for the approval of Subdivision Plats & Condominium developments.
In March of 2000, Cathy was recruited from underwriting to start-up and over see operations of a local Closing Company in Mary Esther,
January 2003, Cathy was recruited by her underwriter to be placed in various local Closing Companies to assist in bringing these companies current on lagging Policies, Balance Escrow Accounts, and to assist with closing transactions.
December 2003, Cathy was recruited to assist another start-up closing company in the Florida Panhandle, this company grew to have 5 locations, and Cathy was given the task of operating the
In January 2006, with full support and encouragement from her family, current employer, co-workers, competitor friends, customers and several underwriters, Cathy made the decision to move on, and open her own operation. Cathy is assisted in operations by her Daughter-in –law Angela Huffine, whom she personally trained. Angela is also a Florida Licensed Title Agent, and fully understands the product she sells, as well as the need for good old fashion customer service.
Cathy likes to keep things light, simple, direct, and get the job done, and believes everything is fixable. Cathy requires satisfaction in and around her closing table.
Cathy’s motto “I’m like a hair dresser, if I cut your hair and do a good job, you’ll be back,” and “a closer does his/her best marketing at the closing table”.
